The Bronco was a popular model in the Ford lineup for many years, until the manufacturer discontinued it in 1996. This SUV was rugged and capable, generating an impressive following of people who loved it. Ford recently announced its plan to bring the Bronco back in 2021, and here’s what we know about it so far.
- Retro Styling
In a world where SUVs are getting more rounded and less retro, the 2021 Bronco will probably stand out. Ford plans to keep its traditional boxy shape, showcasing a retro look that people are excited to see. Additional exterior equipment includes removable doors (either two or four, depending on which model you choose) and a removable roof. These features make it seem like the Bronco will compete with the more rugged SUVs and be able to handle all types of terrain.
- Powertrain Matching the Ranger
The Ford Ranger pickup truck features a powertrain that is supposed to match what will be in the Bronco. This includes a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Rumor has it that the F-150’s 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 engine will also be available, while a hybrid powertrain will likely be available at some point.
- Stylish Interior
No one knows exactly what the cabin looks like, but a few spy photos of a Bronco test-drive show a large central touch screen, which means it should be tech-forward. Ford will likely extend some of the retro styling elements to the inside as well.
